Welcome to our October 2019 Q-notes. Coming direct to you mid-tour, we’re eagerly anticipating our concert in the glorious Karl-Borromäus Saal in the heart of Vienna – in just a few hours. It’s an incredible treat to perform in a city with such a rich history of both chamber music and musical innovation, where pivotal works in the String Quartet repertoire by Schubert, Brahms, Schoenberg, and Webern first sounded. And tonight, music by New Zealanders will also echo through this space.

To see you through the last quarter of 2019, we’re bringing you two concerts to celebrate a 400th birthday (yes, really!). We have details about how you can help us make the 2020 Adam Summer School another roaring success, and also share our outgoing NZSQ Trust Chair’s highlights from the last ten years as he hands on the baton. 
 
Amati Viola: Celebrate 400 years
Crafted in 1619, is this marvellous Amati viola the oldest string instrument in New Zealand? We think it might be! Hear history in action and join us at a party for the Amati in our final concerts for 2019.

NZSQ Celebrate the Amati Viola's 400 years

Bring the whole family to experience history in action with the NZSQ’s programme of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Vieuxtemps, and New Zealand composers Jack Body and Salina Fisher.

24 November 2019, 6pm | Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua
As part of this fundraising concert for Tamariki Education Centre, a primary school in the slums of Nairobi, Rolf performs Vivaldi's Concerto for 2 Cellos.

Cello for Africa, directed by Sinfonia for Hope, brings together musicians from Africa and NZ in a concert to raise funds for the Tamariki Education Centre, a primary school in the slums of Nairobi, founded by New Zealander, Denise Carnihan.
